Barnstaple were just pipped to third place by Kingsbridge Kingfishers but produced some good performances with six wins, one club record and seventeen personal best times. Barnstaple travel to Horfield, Bristol next month and hosts the third and final gala of the season which will determine the final places in Division 1 of this League.  The team at present is in fourteenth position out of twenty four other clubs.

3 Club records broken in first weekend of Club Champs

The first weekend of the club championships got off to a fantastic start with 3 club records broken. Saturday saw Laine Weatherley breaking the 25m freestyle 8 and under in a time of 17.95. The following day Kiran Gammon broke the 25m Backstroke for 8 year and under and joining him, Flo Moore gained her record in the 100 I M for age 13-14 years.

Many congratulations to all three swimmers.

The National Arena Swimming League Western, 2014 – Division 1, Round One at Newport.

Barnstaple started the new season round of galas having to compete against some of the strongest teams in this division but finished with a good sixth placing from eight squads and with a tally of twenty two personal best times.  Barnstaple wins were Joshua Gammon in the 11 years and under 50m Butterfly in a personal best time and David Miller in the 15 years and under 100m Breaststroke, also with a personal best time.  The Open Girls 6x50m Freestyle squad gained a club record with swimmers Ellie Marquardt, Kelly Jeffery, Summer Whiteley, Charlie Woodward, Olivia Sayer and Katie Holland.

Karen Weatherley competes in Masters county champs

 Devon County ASA Masters Championships 2014. 

Karen Weatherley was the Club’s lone competitor in these Championships but in the 45/49yrs age group she took home three silver, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Individual Medley, 50m Breaststroke and a bronze for the 50m Freestyle with a personal best time.  Well done Karen – where were the rest of you ?
